The Five Day Rule – Are You Following It?

The Five Second Rule Says Any Food That Falls On The Floor Is Still Good…

if you grab it in five seconds. Right? That is if you don’t have a hungry pack of wolves or an Old English Sheepdog waiting for you to do just that. ‘Nuff said.

I challenge you to apply that rule to five days if you’ve left a plan, an action, an idea sit for more than five days… you’re not going to get it done.

You’ve already got some resistance to it. You either don’t believe it will work or you don’t believe you can do it. Maybe just maybe, you fall into another bucket. You don’t want to go to work and feel like you’re going backwards as you work. You want to get “lucky” and get rich and famous the easy way. It’s so much more fun to dream about our potential than it is to actually be creating our potential.

Don’t let that be you.

Do just a little reflection. It’s a rhetorical question you don’t have to answer for me but you’ll get further knowing if you’re doing it or not.

Do you have some of the same goals you had a year ago?

Do you have brand new ideas every month and rarely follow through on implementing the new one you had last month?

Do you get new ideas and yet find yourself doing the same old habits, same methods of conducting business, and the same safe net is below you every time you assess?

If you answered “yes” to any of those questions you’re staying in your comfort zone. You may be discontent where you are, yet not enough that the pain of it is worse than the pain of getting out of your comfort zone.

If you’re not willing to take a risk – in fact if you’re not right now a little scared about where you are and a risk you’ve taken – you’re not growing. It takes growth to simply keep up in the fitness business.

A coaching client told me in his market there are 185 fitness facilities listed. We both know there are trainers training that aren’t listed doing business from a basement or online or just in the shadows.

I share that because you have to move fast forward. If you’re selling programs and services from five years ago, even three… you’re out-dated and not thinking about what your customer has to choose from. [Click to Tweet]

If you’re delivering products and services the same way you did three years ago…and even two… you’re again not thinking about the convenience and the package a customer wants, expects, and can get someone else today. [Click to Tweet]

Challenge yourself to leap. Choose ONE big idea and list the actions you would have to take. Yes, it’s going to take time, money, energy. Every true business does.
